Minoru 3D Webcam launches at CES Las Vegas
The award winning webcam that brings 3D video to the consumer
is now available for purchase worldwide
CES Las Vegas, January 5th – The eagerly awaited Minoru 3D
webcam gets its first public showing, and simultaneous worldwide
launch this week. The British designed 3D webcam has been
fascinating people around the world since it was entered into the
i-stage competition run by the Consumer Electronics Association. After
winning the Fans Favorite award, and a stand at CES, designer David
Holder has been preparing for the launch of the product.
“It’s been a fantastic process to see my design go from drawing board
to finished product. There has been tremendous interest in the Minoru
3D Webcam, and I’m excited to finally have products that people can
try out, and hopefully buy,” said Holder.
The Minoru 3D Webcam is a single piece with two cameras spaced
roughly the same distance apart as human eyes, for the stereoscopic
effect. This creates an anthropomorphic look that means users tend to
look into the eyes of the camera as they light up. The Webcam has a
multi-position stand that can sit or stand on a desk, or perch on a
monitor. Viewers wear special coloured glasses to see the 3D image,
and five pairs are included.
Minoru means “Reality” in Japanese, and it
reflects how users feel about the 3D image.
The Minoru can be used with Windows Live
Messenger, Skype, AOL instant messenger,
OoVoo and other video conferencing
packages. The camera can also be used to
take still pictures or record 3D video for
YouTube. It can also be used as a normal 2D
Webcam.

Designers coming up with great ideas
Designers are always coming up with great ideas to get the best out of a product. The Minoru latest webcam is a perfect example of it,the new webcam soon to be launched is very cute as it resembles the animated characters E.T and Wall-E.Not only that the webcam is good looking it has a very cool 3D image capturing feature.
With its two lenses in the shape of eyes, the webcam is able to capture a 3D image by merging both the photos captured by the lenses, however you need to see them with 3D glasses. It is promised to give you a 3D internet experience as it works almost with all messengers Skype,AIM,Windows Live Messenger etc and also works great with YouTune.Another handy feature is that,it will work without having to install drivers.
The price of it will be around $100.

CEA i-stage: And the winner is Minoru 3D Webcam
And the winner is...
Although there were worthy competitors in the afternoon, the winner of the CEA i-stage event here in Las Vegas was Boxee, the "open, connected, social media center." (Though I did talk to a venture capital guy who said he was following my pick, Occipital.) I suspect that Boxee won through sheer slickness of interface, defined value proposition, and possibly presentation value. It's a good product, there's no doubt. Boxee walks away with the $50,000 and the coveted CES booth space, and we'll probably try to keep tabs on it on its road to CES. Keep an eye out for that!
I-stage also featured an official fan favorite vote, and said fan favorite will get a "pod" in the CEA TechZone at CES, so they don't make out too badly, either. In this case, the fan fave winner was the Minoru 3D Webcam. The Webcam itself is adorable, it takes images exclusively in 3D, and, best of all, the presentation required the audience in front of me to don 3D glasses en masse! It was like being in front of a 1960s movie audience! But judging from their responses, the experience was worth it. Judge Jeff Pulver noted that he was looking for a "wow" experience out of the last two presenters of the day (Minoru was second-to-last), and the audience was definitely murmuring "wow" as they watched a cute little girl blow bubbles in 3D.
The afternoon session included some interesting innovations as well, but also the show's one serious bloodbath: judges raked three presenters in a row over the coals for presenting products (a digital picture frame, a video-from-mobile-phones streaming service, and a people-powered search database) that couldn't be easily differentiated from others in the marketplace. But that's not to say that all the presenters didn't offer something innovative and valuable--it's just that some were a little too similar to products already on the market.
And thus endeth CEA's first venture into trying to create a Best of CES-worthy booth on the show floor. I can't wait to see what all of you think of Boxee when it has its big Las Vegas debut!
